About

Craig Riley, MD

Physician, medical education leader, and founder of Copeland Clinical Consulting.

My work sits where clinical care, education, and leadership meet. I have built and improved Graduate Medical Education programs, developed organizational educational culture where it previously did not exist, and served in many capacities as a coach, mentor, and consultant. Across more than a decade of clinical and operational leadership, I have worked with teams in primary care, hospital medicine, urgent care, virtual care, and other settings.

Building a program requires more than a curriculum or a set of policies. Clinicians need preparation for the work, useful feedback, capable preceptors, and leaders who understand the conditions in which they practice. They also need to see a future in the organization.

Recruit the best. Build the conditions that help them stay.

How I work

I start by listening to clinicians, educators, and operational leaders. Then we turn what we learn into clear roles, teaching and evaluation systems, mentoring relationships, and practical measures of progress. I coach leaders as they put those systems into practice and adapt them over time.

Copeland Clinical Consulting can support a focused APP challenge or help develop a broader infrastructure for NP and PA recruitment, transition to practice, leadership, and retention. My consulting work spans clinical education, workforce development, and organizational leadership. APP program development is one application of that broader experience.
